🔍 Who We Are
Unnión is the largest privately funded peri-urban park in Colombia, spanning 788 hectares at the confluence of the Combeima and Coello rivers, in the municipality of San Luis, Tolima. This vast landscape—composed of secondary forests, grasslands, and degraded soils—is the setting for an ambitious ecological restoration project focused on the tropical dry forest, one of the country’s most fragile and strategically important ecosystems.
Unnión represents a new model of sustainable development where environmental and economic activities are not in conflict, but rather complement each other. It stands as living proof that caring for the planet can go hand in hand with social and economic progress.
🧠 Our Story and Experience
The project was born from the joint efforts of Triturados y Agregados Payandé (TAP SAS) and the PRODES Foundation—two local organizations that came together to combine technical expertise, territorial vision, and social commitment to transform the region.
Since its inception, the initiative has proven that mining and reforestation—two activities often seen as incompatible—can successfully coexist. Through a four-helix governance model involving the private sector, civil society, academia, and the government, Unnión is building an exemplary model of sustainability where all social actors play a leading role.
🌍 Mission
At Unnión, we work every day to contribute to the achievement of SDG 15: Life on Land, through the commercialization of eleven forest-based products that promote the conservation and restoration of biodiversity in Colombia.
🎯 Vision
To become the largest habitat bank in central Colombia, leading ecological restoration efforts through the planting of 350,000 endemic trees of the Tropical Dry Forest and the conservation of 400 hectares of forest at risk of disappearing.
